ok well i recently picked up an 08 s2k and i noticed that the gears felt a lil notchy even after it warmed up. So at 2500 miles i changed the fluid to GM synchromesh friction modified, now it feels 10x better then the factory fluid. Hence i have used this fulid in all my b-series cars and even in my 06 si and it always made a huge difference, made it buttery smooth.
But heres the thing should i be worried about having this fluid in my trans? I keep reading posts on here that it shears very easliy and isnt good for the tranny in the long run?? is this true? anyone have any info to back it up? Also that i should really stick to running the NEW honda mtf. So should i be worried?? should i drain it back out. idk it feels better and i have run it in other cars for years

like i said before i never had any probs using this fluid in the past in my other hondas. Is the S tranny that different? let me know what you guys know thanks.

 

Redline MT-90 has been found to work best on Ap2's. That is what i run.

 

both the MTF and GM shear pretty quickly, try the Redline, Amsoil GL-4 gear lube, or Motul Gear 300

I have used GMSMFM for several years. I found it to work very well, but not for very long (5-7K). I never found it to be harmful though. I now use the new Honda MTF and I'm very pleased, but it doesn't last very long either. I've decided to stay with the Honda MTF for now and just change it out annually.

 

OK so i should be fine then...... i guess i'll leave it in for a few thousand miles and change it again

 

I wouldn't be worried, but I would change it before 10k miles.

 

I think that's the main problem, most people change their trans fluid about every 50k, if at all, and the stuff is like water at that point

same with diff oil: most people never change it

both of them are cake with this car, too

 

yea i was also planning on doing my rear diff at 5k miles when i do my first oil change, i plan on using mobil 1 75w90 for the diff

 

anyone else got any opinons on GM synchromesh in out trannies???
