Default Sluggish acceleration

Guys,

More on my sluggish acceleration. It seems, when I hit the accelerator from a stopped position with the clutch in, it takes a second before it actually registers the revs. So obviously when I'm taking off, I'm hitting the accelerator and taking off the clutch but the accelerator is lagged therefore it half stalls.

Secondly, in 1st gear now I'm only able to hit 59 km/hour before the 9000 RPM mark starts flashing whereas I used to hit 70 km/hour. 59 = approx. 36mph.

I don't know what could be wrong, it just seems like the acceleration is lagged and I can't reach the top speed in the gears anymore.

Anyone have any ideas why this is such a problem?

Dirty fuel injectors? Bad spark plug(s)? Bad coil pack(s)? Bad MAP sensor? Bad fuel pressure?

Re: Your second problem. It sounds like your clutch is slipping. Can you achieve the old speed if you accelerate more sedately? ie- NOT WOT and not in a big hurry? If you can, then it's most likely the clutch. If you still can't, then it could also be that your speed sensor is not registering correctly. This, you can check out by being paced by another car. You don't have to be "racing" to do this. Just drive up to speed in the normal fashion and compare speeds.

Check/replace your fuel filter... its an easy attempt, and besides, they dont cost much at all and your car is an 00' so its not a bad idea anyway...

this happened to me on my last Integra Type R... Replaced the filter and was back to normal

and your clutch sounds to be slipping...

It could also be a dirty air filter.
ps. The dirty fuel filter is part of the "bad fuel pressure" issue I stated. Changing the fuel filter on the S2000 can be a "challenge".

It just had a 40,000 km major service. They replaced everything, cleaned everything. So I don't know.

A 40,000 miles would not have replaced any of those things I listed (except maybe the air filter). Those things must still be checked if you wish to get to the bottom of what's going on with your car.

Well, I put it into Honda this morning and they just spoke to me and said they couldn't find anything wrong with the acceleration.

And yet, it's only hitting 59 km/h or so in 1st gear so I've got no idea what to think. They say nothing's wrong with it but they're going to run it through diagnostics as well to check it out.

But I still can't hit decent top speed in 1st, when I know I should be able to.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Did you try the suggestion I made in my first reply? If so, what happened?
