Default Smelly MY02

I have a my02 ap1, and as of yesterday I noticed the smell of gas comming from my exh. I assume that i am running verry rich. The car runs fine. My oil and coolant levels are ok.

Any idea where i can start to diagnois my problem? Oh and no cel.

I don't know, you asked for ideas for where to start diagnosing the problem. I'd start there if it's running fine and you've got no CEL.

Be sure you fit the gas cap on tight after your last fill-up.

I left mine hanging in the fuel door and the car stunk and the check-engine light came on next day.

Thought I was in for a new cat until I checked

A loose oil cap will let a gas smell out.

Download the service manual and look up how to check your O2 sensor voltages.

I would think that would toss up a CEL if it was bad though but maybe not. MAP whack?

I had the same problem: Bad smell, like rotten eggs and lots of soot. But no CEL. Took the car to the dealer, and sure enough, it was the Cat. Good news is that emission related components are covered up to 80 K.
Is that normal that the cat goes efter only 60K ?
