Snapped a Bolt

The remaining bolt in the threads maybe very loose. You just can't grab it to turn it. Try a small pen magnet. Lube the threads with WD40 or some lubricant, then attached the magnet end to the bolt. Slowly try to spin the thing out of the threads.

Just drill it. It will pretty much for sure just spin out. How are you gonna make it worse by drilling it?

Use a cobalt coated bit. I'm sure the friction from drilling will just thread it out easily.

Ways to make it worse:

Break drill bit part way in

Break hardened bolt extractor in hole


My concern is the misaligned hole resulted in cross threading, and the fact that bolt broke means its hopelessly cross threaded now. Even if get bolt out gotta deal with mangled threads.

OP...can you manage not to do these extremely ham fisted and massively unlikely things?

Or are your fists actually made of ham?

He's gotta try something and be conscientious of what he' doing....or accept leaving the bolt in there and go on living his life.

Bring it somewhere if you don't trust yourself with a drill, OP.

Just waiting on my drill to be delivered atm lol. But for now, gonna try somehow use a small plier to turn the bolt exposed at the bottom.
