Default Snapped screw

I noticed that my damper screw had snapped in the hood, so pretty much half of the threads is stuck in the hood, any idea how i would go about getting it out? Any help would be great

lets assume your talking about aftermarket hood struts. sounds like it's time for some "easy out" screw removers. check with Harbor Freight or Sears.

Ahh...had this same thing happen to me on install.

They had a specialty drill bit at ACE hardware that looks like a long cone but is reverse threaded. So you take a regular drill bit, drill the bolt just a little, preferrably with a dremel (be very careful), and then just keep threading the special bit as if you're undoing the bolt.

I forget what the exact name for it was but they had it in the locked cabinet and it came in a few sizes. I think I went with the smallest one. You also need the correct size regular drill bit to go with it.

i think "easy out" might be a trade mark name. i use the name because that's what most people seem to call them.

most tool places carry them, as described above they look like a cone with weird twisty "grippers". you drill a hole in the screw, insert the cone in the hole and run the drill in reverse and the "grippers" grab the screw and back it out.
