but you also keep better throttle response vs a lack thereof with the majority of loud intakes.

I wouldn't say no??? Any intake can hydrolock... though it is less likely with most snorkals, but J's makes one that sits pretty low (takes up almost all the space from bottom to top of the grill) and depending on the depth of the puddle you could get water in there.

It is less likely do to the placement of the inlet pipe, but it is not impossible

I bought but never installed a genuine ebay knockoff several months ago and I wasn't impressed. Granted it was a knock off but it was a copy of a legitimate design as it were. I measured the exterior dimensions of the pinched part of the snorkel that rides over the radiator support, and subtracting the thickness of all 4 walls, the result was a cross-section area that was smaller that the area of the throttle body. Also, I wasn't too comfortable with the fact that the mouth of the intake will, along with air, also suck up trash and lodge all that crap in the narrow section of the snorkel. Just my observation. I have since modified the snorkel.

Well done, that's why i'm not an advocate of the snorkel (atleast oem), the cross section is a real restriction
