I have an '06 AP2 with ~ 45K miles on it. Car has been totally trouble free, but lately I've noticed that sometimes when closing the soft top it doesn't seat all the way against the windshield frame, and while I can get the latches engaged, I can't close them. Every time this has happened, I back off the top a little (just using the open/close button), and re-close it, then it seats fully and I am able to secure the top latches. I don't know whether the winter weather temps have any effect on this (So-Cal, not that cold).

On opening the top, occasionally it will not go down all the way. Again, I just cycle it back & forth and after a try or two it does go all the way down. Unlike the more recent closing issue, this has been going on for a while, across summer/winter.

Appreciate any advice.

Are your elastic straps worn out?

 

I'm having the same problem. However, I'm driving an ap1 with ap2 top. Would that affect it? Also, a piece of velcro fell out. Where does that stick back onto?

 

Those straps also manipulate the front bar, which has to pivot correctly for the top to close.

Definitely check those straps.

 

So I'm thinking of buying a set of the Modifry straps. Will they improve the seating against the windshield top for closing, as well as complete folding down?
