Default Something wrong with my axles?

so last weekend my diff went out on the highway. i drive the car pretty hard. i have 4.77s that i got installed in to the diff by a local shop and i'm running a CTSC/AC and an ACT HD clutch. i got under the car to look at it today and start taking the diff out. first step, i drained the fluid (fine shavings magnetized to the drain bolt). while under there i noticed something that i thought was odd. if you look at the pictures below you will see that the left and right axles look different. i'm wondering if the fact that the passenger side axle is pushed out more from the diff is an effect of the diff going out, or if that was a previous problem that could have made the diff go out. i don't know what to think when i see this:

i think the axles looking different is an effect of the diff going out...not the other way around...

but i'm just guessing.

That output shaft on the diff is pushed out.

It should be seated firmly inside the diff. There is a "C" clip that holds it inside the diff and the flange is pressed against the seal.

Can you beat the output shaft with a rubber hammer to get it seated properly?

Your installer may not have seated that output shaft properly and it was pulled out as you drove. To install a gear set, you have to remove them. So when they reinstalled it they chould have not got it all the way in.
