Default Spare Diff. Good to have?

I can pick up a low mileage diff with the axles. I have heard that they can fail and I am doing some track days, but is it necessary? IF I buy it it will never crack right.

I've got a spare differential among other things sitting in my living room. I like collecting S2000 parts. I love it! Ιf I were you, I would just get that spare differential and fit a shorter final gear to it.

If you've got the cash to spare go for it. I'm on diff #2, rebuild #1. I'm hard on my car though.

Is it good to have....um, yeah? Pick up a spare one of EVERYTHING on the car if you can. Could be good to have

But more seriously, youwon't have trouble getting rid of the diff if you don't need it. Perhaps one of the reinforced differential builders like S2KPUDDYDAD might want it even. Who knows!

If I had access to a spare diff locally for the right price, I'd pick it up in a second.

Always nice to have, as either a replacement or a project.

I've averaged 15 autocross events on R-compounds for 7 years. I was afraid of a diff or axle failure, so I picked up spares 5 years ago. They have sat, untouched, on a shelf in garage ever since. If I never need them, I'm OK with the money I spent, because I know I'll get it back someday when I sell them. If I do break something, it's nice to know that I'll be back on the road in a day or two.

Or make a coffee table out of it.

I'd say only if you drag race your S2. Other than that, as long as the oil is changed on it it'll last through track sessions.

Diff is the one of the weak s2k parts.

If cheap I'd would mostly pick it up and store.

If you don't need it You can always easy resell it.

I have seen the ring gears at hardtopguy, but haven't researched it yet. Is it a good up grade?
Thanks for all of the responses everyone. I have only had the S2k for a month now so I am still learning about the car. Great car!
