Spark plugs
Good morning everyone.
Went to Kragen yesterday to pick up some spark plugs, and they just kept confusing me.... whats new?
anyway... the only set of spark plugs that they had in stock for my car were Bosch platinum +4 witch they guy kept saying "these are for American cars" and I like "isn't the 12 volt current the same in our cars as they are in America's vehicles" ... and he kept saying "no it's different, just order this *bla bla* brand (I can not honestly remember the name) but they were charging like 22 bucks per plug, so I naturally thought that the guy was trying to rape me.
I dono what to do, what is a good spark plug to get for our cars? i think that it is time i changed mine... I am at 60 K
any help will be greatly appreciated!!
thanks,
Alex

It's got nothing to do with being 12V. It's got to do with the design of the tip and insulator and how this interacts with the way the head and combustion chamber is shaped. It has been said that the those +4 plugs don't work worth crap in our engines by a few posters here. Maybe the guy at Kragen did you a favour.
If the stock plugs have been working well, why not just get another set of those from your dealer? If you want to by them online, you can always go to something like "sparkplugs.com". You can get OEM plugs or whatever else you want to experiment with. Again, if it worked once before, why experiment now?

Well I can not say they have not been working well, but they are the OEM that came with the vehicle in 02 and it does have 63K on the odometer... I have noticed a drop in gas mileage so naturally I think it is time to change.
Here are the options I have found so far......
Densoproducts.com- Denso, Iridium 4= $47.96
Sparkplugs.com- Champion Iridium 4= $ 32.44
" "- NGK Double Platinum 4= $ 46.84
I was told that Iridium is the way to go....From what I understand Denso is a pretty darn good company but NGK is constantly recommended for these types of applications....Master Viper, what do you recommend?

Poor fuel economy can be due to many things - air filter, fuel filter sock, aging coilpacks, aging sensors, dirty intake manifold, dirty injectors, poor valve adjustment. Spark plugs is but only one thing. The service manual indicates that the OEM plug is changed at 107K miles, but most people don't leave them that long.
Off hand, I would say go with the OEM NGKs, but if you want to try the cheaper Iridiums, many have used them and indicate they also work well. However, they don't always work well with supercharged S2000s.
Make sure you check the gaps before putting them in.
