First, you can't speed shift an AP2 - and its not the CDV that's the problem. When Honda revised the S2000 in 2004, it doubled the weight of the flywheel, but didn't increase the pressure plate's bite, so all that inertia overpowers the clutch engagement. Speed shift an S at low rpms and you'll feel the clutch bite, do it at redline and you'll feel the clutch slip - its not the CDV, its a heavy flywheel and weak pp.

Second, speed shifting is for amateurs imo who want to be drag racers - pretty much every time I've seen speed shifting it was done wrong or uncalibrated. Shift fast and smooth, don't upset the balance of the car. Jerking your shifter and slamming it into gear while flooring the gas is not good driving - its only applicable to drag racing.

The S can be set up for drag racing however and it can do it successfully. S2oooNvegas has been dragging for years and can prob help you with a good setup.

i dunno what the hell you call a speed shift..

but i'd imagine it's shifting fast.

and if you don't think you can shift fast, you need to re-evaluate your driving technique.. cos i can shift real fast with the gearbox in the s, but it takes talent & practice.

Is the term "speed shifting" flat foot shifting?? If so then its a big no no in the S. I used to do it all the time in my turbo SRT-4 at the tracks to keep consistent boost through the gears but never thought twice to ever do it in the honda.

C7 JFW ,This topic is whether or not speed-shifting damages an S2K. Nobody here is interested in your perceived ability to shift fast or your perceived superior driving skills which imo should be very limited since you don't even know what speed-shifiting is...but then again, you were probably wouldn't know because you were still in diapers while we were doing it !

Sound advice is most welcome and is usually prevalent here on this forum, useless and insolent comments aren't.

Read the posts carefully before you start bad-mouthing people, sonny !

Why don't you just upgrade the clutch? While your at it add a supercharger, your worries at thinking it's not a good drag car will disappear.

lol @ thinking the TT or Mini would be better drag cars

I don't know how hard it is to get off the island with a car there, or how much it costs but there are a lot of amazing circuits in Italy, some of the best in the world. Unfortunately, all the ones I know of are all pretty far north.

Fiorano and Imola would be a pretty far drive, but I can think of worse things then a long trip through the Italian countryside for a track day at an historic circuit.
