Default Spoon Motor Swap

So heres my situation. I did a sort of makshift cannon ball run ( only not across the county) from philly to miami in my 01 2k with some other cars. About 15 miles from my house on the return trip i hit a flash flood and sucked water in threw my v2. So that motors gone. So now im faced with a delema. I need an engine. Ive done plenty of b swaps but this is not a project i really want to undertake, nor do i have the tools or the space to to facilitate such an event. So0o0o I searched for other options. Junk yard motors around here are out of the question. So i started calling around. I've been out of the scene for a little bit so i had a rough time finding somplace to start. Usually i would call rich at fuzion in havertown PA. But things have changed since than. Eventually I stumbled upon Mike at exotic customs. His ideas for the car were to stip out my AEM ems, go to a spoon computer. Strip my OEM motor and drop in a spoon blueprinted motor which he would get from Opak.

Like i said i've been out of the scene for a while, and I"m having trouble finding solid numbers on the motor. Or anyone even who street drives one. Can this be done. I need imput and nubers. Or i'll even take another option, just remember i'm on the east coast, and quality shops and parts are hard to come by.

I wouldn't bother with the spoon engine. Save yourself money and get a regular engine. I don't think the spoon engine and ecu will make much more if any then your AEM EMS and a regular s2000 motor.

I think it depends on how how the numbers work out. What I would suggest is you price the spoon out as well as a factory engine with blueprinting done to it at a shop you trust. I believe the biggest thing that Spoon does is blueprint it. Maybe a couple of other little things but that's it.

good luk and sorry for the engine loss,
bassem

If you plan on doing other mods, get a stock engine.
If you will be fine close to stock, get the spoon engine. I think they do a little more to it. It might dyno at 220whp (equivelant of I/H/E on Ap1).
Get prices on both and check back!

well exotic will purchace and drop a spoon motor including a spoon ecu for 10k. which is a fair price. As far as doing anything to it after, ill be alright, its no track car. If got a bored throttle body, comptech headers, tanabe exhust, and a spoon intake o go along. and that will keep me sane. As far as working a stock motor, i would be fine with that. If i could find somebody i trusted would slap a SC on a new motor asap its just that i dont want to do the work alone. I'm not quite confident enough, and my highschool days of thinking i can do anything and than screwing it up are over. If not go with a spoon motor, Who can i trust to deliver a quality engine. And from there, who in the tri-state can tune it?

call beaver's in kannapolis NC. Last I checked, they had 3 S2000 engines in stock. They only stock wrecked/salvaged Honda/Acuras. You may find a stock engine for a good price.

Water ingestion equals what? Bent rod, damaged crank? If that is the case spend your $10K on a rebuild including stroker kit (or just AP2 rod and crank) and tune for it with the AEM. That'll get you a lot more than a Spoon set up and leave change in your pocket.

If you managed to swap motors, you will be able to install a S/C. I installed my S/C myself and to only thing i've done before on my cars is change the shocks, oil and plugs. Trust me, if i did it, anyone can.

Its not so much that i dont think i can do it. ITs just if something goes wrong its hard to find good help around here. Or atleast help who is interested. Ill call beaver tommarow and see what they say, thanks for the tip. A stock motor from honda will cost a little over 5500 for a stock block and head, not assembled. Plus another 4 grandish in parts and labor.

If i pull the motor. Who can rebuild it with a stroker kit on the east coast. Or would it just be a better idea to ship it elsewhere?

Any other sugestions. I'm open to all ideas
