Default Spoon style air duct

i was looking into getting an air duct like the spoon, import development style etc. but i was wondering if any cutting is involved when installing this. and also if that air dam in the stock airbox needs o be cut away. thanks in advance.

The black plastic shroud in front of the radiator has to go, or at least be cut. Don't have to cut the airbox, but the little "horn" at the front obviously has to go.

You may want to consider opening up the dam in the air box, but not totally removing it. There is also a air duct on inside if the cover of the air box. If you open up the dam, you may want to consider removing the duct. I might suggest you look at the AusS2000 Air Intake, quite a bit less money than the spoon.

Is there anyway to block water from coming in on a Spoon intake? A bypass valve perhaps, but where would it go?

I drove through the mother of all thunderstorms coming back from Charleston last month. Dozens of cars were pulled off the interstate, visibility was less than 50m, cars driving with their hazards on less than 20mph - all of that and no problems. The stock airbox has both the dam and several drain holes. You would have to practically submerge the front end before there would be any danger. Honestly if I encountered those type of conditions in my S2000, I would just stop and find another way - even if I was still stock.

The thing with the Spoon CAI is that the airduct is direct from the front grill...the intake takes about 1/2 the right side of the front intake..that why RAIN is the enemy.....

Ive heard people would add Custom's Front Grill which may help a bit.

I know exactly where the intake sits. I have IDIs version- which is why I related the story of the downpour I went through.
