You removed the drivers airbag = there will be a trouble code stored. It's stored in the separate SRS control unit.

2 stage inflators have a different resistance and wiring than single stange.

Measuring the resistance of a airbag can be asking for trouble, as some meters apply current to a circuit to do this. You'll find out when the bag deploys in your hands.

Good point about NOT sticking tester probes onto an airbag.

Unrestrained airbags will chase you around and do some damage, deployed one today actually.

It only went about 6 feet in the air before gravity took over.

I hope my little multimeter wasn't applying enough current to deploy the bag, that would seem very extreme since I'm sure it's not a small amount of current in order to deploy it in the first place. (Aside, how could you measure resistance without applying a bit of current? My mind tells me it's impossible...)

Thanks for the info. I'm not really closer to the solution, since I know now there have been AP2's that can bypass the SRS light with a 2 ohm resistor. Must be operator error...

Did it blow up in your face? Then I guess it wasn't.

No it didn't, but to be accurate how do you know it couldn't have at the current it was producing...maybe I was just lucky?

Anyway, its all irrelevant. I'm safe, and I know how much resistance it has

Did the resistor that came with your hub come on a plug or is it just the resistor?

It was a resistor attached to a fuse so it will "blow" like a normal airbag in a crash so the SRS module doesn't get fried.

Doesn't plug in, just a wire. It needs to be soldered into the connector or something.

The SRS unit would still have to be replaced if you did get in a collision. The impact sensors are built into the SRS unit on 00-05 cars and even without a bag attached the sensor will trip in a impact.
