Default Start Button Wont Work Unless....

Hey Guys This is my first post under this name. It wont work with my last, anywho... My prob is that To go start the car (pushing the start button) Wont work, UNLESS i reset my battery (just take off power cable for a 1sec. Yes it has a after market arlam as well. I dont think its that tho... I get full power stereo and everything works when you put the key in but wont start.... I was thinking maybe its the start button itself!!

BTW im also lookin for a L/driver side fender(got backed into)...

Hope that is enough info and pray someone knows cause if not, ill just replace the button first and go from there!! Anyone have ideas??

Thank You
DG

If you can consistently make the car start by disconnecting the battery, then it is 100% NOT the start button.

Alarm, almost guaranteed.

yup sounds like the alarm. if the start button works after the battery reset every time, how could it be the button?

The button has no logic circuit built in. Litterally all it does is pass power through it (to a relay) when you press it.

The Alarm however likely has a starter-kill function. Have you tried unlocking your doors (via keyless) when your having your no-start issue?

I have the same problem on my 1996 ford tunderbird with an aftermarket alarm. I have to unlock the alarm before starting the car. try turning on the key then press your alarm unlock button then try and start it.
