Default Starter motor overturning

Hi peeps, Hope you can give me some help here.

I've got an 03 S2k, and some times when starting the starter motor overturns. Only really when it's cold, but occasionally when warm, and occasionally not when cold.

Something to worry about or what could I look at? Complete newbie to S2k's and indeed petrol.

By over turning, do you mean that its sticking and causing a ugly screeching/grinding ccccrrrrrrrkkkk noise? Its pretty common in the s2000's. Nothing to really worry about. Mines been doing it since I bought it owned it for 8k miles now.

very common. you can either rebuild the starter or buy a new one. I've had the noise for years though, only when it's cold out, mine still works. You should fix it eventually though--a healthy starter sounds completely different (in a good way).

I think a sticking starter will last very very long. I think its more of a quirk than a problem?

My old 01 did the same thing. I was looking for a bolt or something I dropped down below the intake manifold and noticed one of the starter bolts had back all the way out was was just setting on the motor. It was hell trying to get enough swivels and extensions to get to it but I was able to get it back in. It didn't stop the "hang" but it gave the starter a more solid sound when it started.

Not sure how common this is but it may be worth looking at.

If you don't know where the starter is, it's below the intake manifold against the firewall. The only way I could access it was from the front of the motor below the alternator with about 17 feet of extensions.

Hmmm, Not familiar with any of the engine layout as yet, Still need to locate where to top up the diff/gearbox etc oils. Obviously engine oil goes in the top

It's common, due to the nature of the problem, and the location of the starter it's not worth fixing. If you do your clutch or have to remove the transmission fix it there, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.
