You guessed it! The problem is back! This is making me neurotic, this time it left the check light on but not flashing, where exactly is the map sensor I don't want to whack it I want to kill it, okay okay just a tap, but what does it look like?

Have you pulled any of your OBD-II diagnostic codes? That would be a prudent thing to do.

It's on top of your throttle body (at the end of your air intake rubber tube). You'll see the wiring harness going into it.

[B]I am having a similar problem....car starts up rough, then idles rough and CEL flashes while in idle. Once i start moving(revs above 2krpms), the CEL goes solid and stops the flashing. Once i stop again the car idles really rough and sounds like its about to stall out.

I changed the plugs thinking they fouled, but it still did it. I removed my V-AFC and it still did it. Ive reset my computer after each thing, and im still stuck with the problem. I dont think its #4 failure as once im moving my car is just as fast and runs good, but idle it sounds really messed up.

Could it be a fuel injector?

Today i am a happy chappy. I got my torque wrench back and checked out my plugs, xviper how did you know to post your DIY plug check when you did? Perfect timing! Uncanny. What kind of chip have you got.....???

So. All plugs tight and no sign of anything out of order. Negative pale brown but seat (ring) black, insulation around positive hardly discoloured, no spots. All connections okay. Gas cap on tight. Oil level okay. Whacked the Map sensor about four times, equal whacks, with srewdriver handle, perhaps this is my imagination but the sound of the first whack was different to the others as though the first one made something happen inside and the others were of no effect???? Reset the ECU by pulling the fuse.

Car starts up fine, allthough my foot is no where near the gas. Went for a drive and it screams!!!!

Assuming it stays this way then I am happy but still not sure if it was bad gas, foot on gas when starting, map sensor over due for a whacking.

Just a point, my plugs are NGK R PFR 7G 11S are these correct according to the plug replacement TSB? The dealer that sold me the car assured me it had been done?

Also what colour should my tail pipes be, mine are black but then so are all sk2's that i have seen in Portugal i assume that this is rich, is this okay or do i need to tweek something?

You will notice I am a guest but will become a member because this is a great site.

I would love to see an xviper index of fixits, all in one place with a "multiple word" search facility.

Thanks guys for all your help.

First, what do you mean by "chip"?

Could be chip off the old block, chip on the shoulder, chip shot, windsheild chip, fish and chip shop, actually none of these but as in "computer chip", due to your ample abilities concerning this car! Could start a new thread on Chip!!!

My business partner is Canadian, she says that many amazing things come out of Canada (incuding her) not just Maple Syrup and Mounties, Guess she is right. She raves about her last holiday there, in your part I think, Banf, she originally hails from Vancouver and is visiting again this August. I have never been, she says it is my kind of place, perhaps next year.

I tried your thread that you suggested but it will not load.

Cheers for now

Ahhhhh! ECU "chip". This has actually been asked lately. There is no interchangeable chip in our car. That is why noone makes one. First the chip that is in our car is not easily accessable and it is not easily removeable. I've been told that it is solidly soldered in place. This car is also pretty much "maxed" out as is. Very little can be done to the programming without sacrificing other things. These are possibly the reasons why noone has bothered to manufacture an aftermarket chip. You would need to go with one of the new replacement ECU's that are currently being introduced - still not completely perfected.
If you like coastal regions and mountains and lakes, you must visit B.C. and Alberta.
Those links in that thread should be fixed by now. Try them again.
