Stationary Rev Limit?
I used to own an EP3 a few years back which had a rev limit stopping you from going into vtec whilst stationary.
Does the S2000 have one of those, or is it supposed to as I tried last night to rev and it went past the 5k mark but im not sure how much by.
I would have thought it should have one of these?

S2000 will rev to redline but won't go into VTEC. The ECU has to see a certain speed(16mph?) from the speed sensor before VTEC will engage. To my knowledge, all VTEC engines(on the stock ECU) work this way.
Yeah my BB6 prelude would not engage VTEC unless it was in gear.
S2000 maniac- how would it ruin the motor? Assuming it was properly warmed up and everything I would think it would be no different than while moving.

I have heard that the lack of dynamic compression pushing back on the pistons puts much more load on the rods, not sure if it is true. I wouldn't imagine that it is catastrophic, it is a normal part of changing gears and launching at the track.

how much of this is one doing to really matter anyway? Isn't this a whole discussion about nothing? So some free revs on occasion in the garage if listening for something, or childish revs at a stoplight (like that 7k rev will sound soo impressive at a stop) clearly does no serious harm to the engine. So is some moron literally holding it at high rpm for 5, 10 or more minutes? Hours?
