Default STB or XBrace, which to get first

Well all, I have read up as best I can on an Xbrace of some kind, i.e. Spoon XBrace or DiGrappa and STB's i.e. Mugen, Comptech. I need some help from those that have either or both installed. (an STB and or brace)

Which should I get first? A brace to help stiffen up the frame or a stabalizer bar to help with the over/under steer issue? I am going to the Button Willow event and I cannot get both before then so I am looking for opinions on how it has worked/helped/hindered or whatever for those of you that have driven with them.

Thanks in advance.

To be honest, the STB is more for 'looks' than functionality...so it really depends on you -- if you want more looks, go with the STB first, but if you want functionality, the X-brace/rear bar combo without a doubt!

Well maybe STB isnt what I meant then. Not the bar that goes on top of the front shocks under the hood but the one that is more near the radiator that hooks up to the steering system? DAMN...I am feeling really stupid right now. Do you all know what I am referring to? UGH...need help.

hmm...not too sure...all I know is that most companies offer 3 pieces: the X-brace, STB, and rear lower bar...

You are asking about a front sway bar or a cross-brace. The cross brace will be easier to install yourself. Both items yield great results. I started out with a X-brace, and then added the Mugen front sway bar later.

As James said, X-brace first then swaybar unless you are racing. Amazing item that X-brace.

I am not aware of anyone on the board running Comptechs new brace. It replaces the steel factory cross brace and stiffens while weighing less. It bolts in the same hole as the rear arms of the x-brace and may be an adequate replacement for the x-brace. Check it out on their website.

the best thing about the X-brace is not only for the handling, for the pretection of your oil pan, it is already well-worth the money.!!

Great info thanks all. Looks like Xbrace first for me. Now I have to decide if I wanna spend the $400 + on the DeGrappa or stick with Spoons.

So the sway bar seems to be next on my list. I don't do a lot of racing just a few events a year. Went to Streets of Willow and I am going to Button Willow so I wanted to have at least something installed to help out with the steering issue. If an Xbrace of some kind helps then it looks like I am on the right track.

Thanks again all for the help.
