isn't steering ratio different between ap1 & ap2? of course that's not the only thing that determines how the steering feels. it also depends on what you mean by "quality feel"

Steering is slightly slower in the '04+ cars.

Different tires, and alignment will also alter steering feel. The 2005 model has wider front tires than 2002, and is lower profile.

also the rear comes out easier on ap1's so that may also contribute of slower steering feel on ap2's

I can only describe it as a more solid feel. If the only change was the ratio, then perhaps it was the other factors such as the tires.

AP2s (2004+) do have slightly better steering feel by virtue of STIFFER steering bushings.

This is one of the myriad of minute changes in the AP2 chassis that enhances the driving experience, but it all gets lost in translation because most folks can't see past the fact that the car has an 800 rpm lower redline!

If YOU felt the '05 steering feel was better than the '02 steering feel, there will be no argument that will change your opinion, regardless of the reasonf for it. As stated before, there are a numbers of reasons why the steering feel of the cars is different. In your case and according to your driving preferences, '05 was superior.

I would have to agree.

I think the ratio is 2.6 lock to lock for the AP2 and 2.4 for an AP1. Plus, the tires are wider on an AP2, so you get a different feel.

I believe this is a common misconception here on the board... while the tire size may appear to be larger the actual tread width is less on the AP2.
