As for the mention of the speed sensor being tied into steering, I think some S2000s (JDM?) offered variable ratio steering that resulted in a higher turning ratio at slow speeds and a lower ratio at freeway speeds. This might explain the need for all the sensor input

The difference in steering ratios between the '00-'03 and '04 may not be in the steering rack. By moving the steering rod ends closer or further from the vertical axis of the front hubs, the steering ration increases or decreases (respectively). Basically, Honda may have changed the steering ratio ONLY by changing the dimensions of the front hub assemblies.

You may be right, perhaps Honda never followed thru or did so in such limited numbers that it never made a name for itself. I honestly don't know how I would feel about the inconsistent nature of such a steering concept, I think it would be a little unpredictable and take a looonnngg time to get a feel for.
