Default steering wheel tilted

I recently just replaced my steering wheel coupler to fix my loose steering wheel which was tilted half way to the right. I picked up the car today and the steering is still tilted to the right but the car drives straight. I was told an alignment will recenter it but I don't think it will.

Do you guys think the steering wheel coupler was installed wrong or a simple alignment will recenter my steering wheel?

an allignment really has nothn much to do with the steering wheel position, unless they screw around with the tie rod ends and such(correct me if wrong).

Im not sure if you are talking about the universal joint in the engine bay which connects the steering shaft with the steering rack, or the actual steering wheel in the cabin being placed onto the splines incorreclty. Either way both methods will work but i would just do it by re adjusting the steering shaft joint under the hood.

If it was my car i would do it my self but in your case maybe bring it to an allignment shop so they can find dead center with the lasers and then they will prolly just re adjust the universal joint under the hood or do it by removing the steering wheel. I do it at my house by trial and error lol sometimes it can be a pain in the ass because i have no lazers to guide me !

alignment will fix it... I had the same problem after a long day at the drift track, I thought I bent sumthing and did an alignment just to see if I would get lucky and sure enough the alignment put the steering wheel back in the correct position.

Thanks for the reply guys...

I also noticed that the steering wheel feels slightly looser than my brothers s2k.

If I tighten the steering wheel coupler again will that make it a bit firm?

Crank: I replaced the universal joint under the hood, also known as steering wheel coupler. Correct me if I'm wrong.

this isnt an alignment issue, you put the connector back on, off center. take off the steering wheel and move it over one tooth. done.

In your case, yes its probably off by a tooth or two. If it just did that over time without doing anything, alignment.

It's too late at this point but the steering wheel and splines should have been marked before removal.
