Default "Sticky" steering?

Whenever I turn the steering wheel at low speeds, it feels like it's sticking. I would also feel vibration and somewhat hear a "thud thud thud" sound as I turn. What could the problem be?

Not really. I think it only happens when it's cold though.

Bump. I still have this problem. It only happens when the car is cold. Any ideas?

Check tire pressure?

I'll try that. It might be it since it only happens when it's cold. How fast does the air in the tire heat up?

It's not the tires. The s has a mildly defective steering rack. The cold makes it act up until warm.

I see. SgtB, do you have this problem too? Would a rack from a newer S fit and fix the problem? And is it worth it?

A $700 job for a different 'non-sticky' rack? Nah.

bad rack or try unplugging and replugging the harness under the wheel. Could be a bad connection
