I read somewhere in here that if you remove the stock airbox cover you will loose a little power but will get a nice new sound. I tried this last night and I love it. It sounds really cool but I want to make sure I am not hurting anything. How about rain? Thanks

Are you talking about just the lid? If so, then what you have heard is correct. You will subject NO harm to the engine but you will lose some power once the intake starts to suck in HOT air.

Well, it's still a bit cool in DE, right? You won't need to worry about heat soak till summer anyway.

I definitely have hydrolock paranoia, but the comptech claims it wont suck up water? How reliable is this??

 

Extremely. The comptech sits high in the engine bay and its just in an area where cool air goes to. I bought it and i plan on passing a how from the right fake brake duct to the filter. Might help maybe
