I was looking under my car (I got mine a week ago yesterday!) and I noticed after the exhaust split for the two pipes, the right side (looking at the car from the rear) has this short piece of capped pipe that looks like half an "H" pipe that doesn't go anywhere. Does anyone have any idea what the purpose of it is??? Man, I was almost thinking there was a factory way to go fully open with no mufflers! I know, that's not the case!

Check under your S2Ks!

 

Just a guess, It probably smooths harmonic pulses at a certain RPM .

 

My RM Racing system has the same type of pipe at about the same place but at a different angle.

 

i have heard that it is some sort of silencer, but that is just what i herd

 

From what i remember, Honda actually spent over a year just tuning the sound of the exhaust for the s2000. that tube is what is the result all that R&D.

a lot of aftermarket exhausts are beginning to incorporate this including the HKS set up for our cars.
