Default Strange noise after Ignition On?

Having this noise (See video) which occurS usually when it’s colder outside... I am in NorCal (San Francisco). it’s a weird rub that lasts 1~2 seconds. In extreme cases the car won’t start, keeps cranking over. Battery is new (8/20) and car has had a clean bill of health at its 50k service. Any ideas?

I wonder if it could be a fuel pump not providing enough pressure. I've always heard a whine on start up since I had it at the very same point as yours and I'm pretty sure that's just the fuel pump getting up to pressure. The whine in mine has a higher pitch that yours so I'm thinking your fuel pump isn't providing enough pressure at start up and possibly at other times.

Shut the door so the beep isn't half drowning out the noise. Since the engine spins (although it seems slowly) the fuel pump would be my the next suspect.

oops, sorry will do that next time. Was overly “excited” to capture the video. Cheers.

I am also leaning towards the fuel pump. That is a pretty bad noise from one, but it occurs when the fuel pump is priming (key on, engine off) and would explain the hard starting. If you want to isolate it completely and you can make the noise happen repeatedly, pull the fuel pump fuse and see if it goes away when you turn the key on. That will tell you if it is indeed coming from the fuel pump.
