me being over zealous with assembly lube, and it was in intake rocker, and no they were the original rockers..... I thought that might be the problem, but was dreading breaking her down that far again.....
Incredible.... I appreciate the diagnosis and repair/solution!

Too much lube. It means when I disassembled the engine, all of the the moving parts were cleaned and dried. When you assemble and re install critical moving parts, you need to apply assembly lube to pieces with metal to metal contact for the initial startup. I had applied an excessive amount of molly lube on the vtec pins, which according to the manual should just be oiled but I was feeling crazy and threw some lube on them anyhow. Well that's why the manual says use oil, the thick, glue like lube galled and froze my pins, in the number three cylinders intake rocker arm. Hope this is a better description for you.

It is (kinda) strange IMO - no offence - that the oil pressure wasn't strong enough to push the pins into "vtec position".
@ 6000 rpm there would be around 8 - 8.5 bar (120-125 psi.) of oil pressure.
After all the narrow passages you may end up with (?) 5.5 - 6.5 bar (80-100 psi) at the pins?
Pin diameter is (?) 7 - 8 mm?

That gives a minumum force of ... 20 Newton pushing the pin away.
Okay, minus the spring pushing back.

Lets say 17 newton = approx 3.8 lbf.
And all the parts are hot too.

Hmm...
Maybe you used glue instead of assembly lube?

No worries, they are lubed now.

no offense taken, it seemed more like a vacuum holding it oddly enough. it took a rather strong magnet to get it free, possibly some debris lodged in it as well. Don't know really, but once I got it free and re assembled, she ran like a scalded cat.
