I searched and found plenty on strut tower braces but could not find what to do about taking up the slack.
With the brace in place and all bolts still loose you can push-pull on the brackets and get at least 1/4" maybe 1/2" slack over the length of the brace including the pivot bolts.
With the car on a flat level surface, should I pull the brackets outward before tightening or push them together before tightening? This should be determined by the direction that will receive the most pressure. I would imagine that when cornering the top of the outside strut tower would tend to lean outward and away from the other. If so then it seems that I would pull the brackets apart before tightening?
Any thoughts?
When cornering, there's exactly zero pressure on the top of the shock mounts. This car doesn't have struts, there's no load path to the top of the shock like there is in a strut suspended car.
Just tighten the thing up and use it to lean on when changing the oil or working under the hood.
i figured they would help stiffen the chassis which leads to less chassis flex. good on the track. but they are completely useless? wow... might get a cheapo just for show then...
