Thumbs up Studdering Takeoff

I am hoping that someone here will be able to assist.

I have a 2000 S2000 and it has about 77,000 miles on it. I also have intake and an exhaust that have been on the car for over a year. I recently started having a problem that if the car has sat overnight or for an extended period of time that the first time that I rev the car beyond 6k it starts studdering. It is almost like it is hitting the rev limiter. This is not the same as if you don't let the car warm up. I can let the car get completly warmed up... three bars and it will still do it as I accelerate hard the very first time. Seems to happen mostly at 7k. Once I get the car to contiue to rev up it stops and I can then have fun. Any ideas? I plan to replace the map sensor on the car to see if that is the problem. I was having idle problems before and those don't seem to occur right now though.

Thanks,

Dewain

Before you buy a new MAP sensor, try the "MAP whack" and ECU reset. It might be all you need.

ps. Moving this to the main part of UTH.

mine has been doing that recently as it has started to get colder...45 in the mornings. try resetting the ECU and the MAP sensor whack and see if that helps.

he dewain that sounds like something that was happening to my car during our supermeet. Remember when my check engine light came on. Although mine was constant studdering. It ended up my map sensor going bad and the values needed readjusting. Try the map whack too.

It is most likely the MAP sensor. I've had that problem several times and the temporary fix is the MAP-WHACK.
