Default sudden problem after teaching friend how to drive manual

So my car has been running perfectly fine for the time I have had it and I don't drive agressively often. Out of a charity event I volunteered to teach this girl how to drive manual. She wasn't bad at all and stalled maybe 4 or 5 times and never took the car over 3,500 rpms and the lessons was literally like 45 minutes and majority of the time it as fine.

So now it acts all of a sudden like the clutch is slipping. Bad too and I can't understand cause it was rock solid all the time I drove it. Any suggestions. Its an 03 ith 83K miles and treated well.

I just don't understand could she have caused that much damage???

If you have 83K miles on the original clutch, it is likely that your clutch was worn paper-thin, and all of the slipping caused by her learning used up the rest of it. Even if she never touched your car your clutch would have begun slipping in the next few weeks anyhow.

I wouldn't beat her up for it. She didn't cause any "damage". You would have had to replace it anyway.

It could just be a little glazed over. I'd give it a few days before you get too worried. But as was stated, if she was driving that calm / semi-good, 4 stalls wouldn't kill a clutch that was in good condition. If it is finished off, it was likely a time-bomb already.

Was she riding that clutch at high rpm to avoid stalling? 45 minutes of the can eat it up or glaze it. What you risk to have someone play with the stick.

its glazed. like brake pads get when you run em on a track. some people say a clutch can get "burned" and i guess thats true to but it should wear off in a few days. it probably just got a bit over heated and glazed the friction faces.

Something similar, happened to me too. A buddy drove me and my ex-gf home in the S2k. I woke up the next morning and my clutch pedal was loose. The clutch master cyl was leaking, just a coincidence in my case I guess.

It might also be worth checking that she wasn’t resting her foot on the clutch pedal has she drove – my sister was never corrected for doing this and ended up burning out the clutch on her first car.

I a guessing it was glazed. It was a bit better last night and today it got closer to normal. Knowing this, I also do realize I need a clutch within the next 10 thousand or so miles anyways.

Just changed out the master cylinder

Thank you everyone for your input!
