can yoou hear it

 

I believe the red hose connects up to manifold vacuum/pressure to trip the BOV during throttle closure. Having or not having an AC has little to do with if you can or cannot hear the BOV.

 

I just purchased the Greddy Type S and its real load. Remember that the loudness depens on the valve and also the spring.

 

I have the stock comptech pulley (upgrading to a 7# one this weekend ) I can hear it when I shift above 5000 rpms, makes a WHOOOOOSH! sound. The GFB BOV is not super loud at low boost. If you want something loud I've heard that TurboXS RFL BOVs are the loudest, though i'm not sure if they will work under 10 psi of boost.

As 2_fast mentioned the Greddy Type S is also pretty loud and works with low boost. I didn't like the chirping sound it makes.

 

Ill have video of my car up soon, and it is just as loud as a turbo'd BOV. The only diff I noticed is that it dosent release as much pressure between shifts as a turbo does. If I shift fast enough I dont think it has time to vent.

Oh and since its still a bypass valve its constantly hissing air at curising speed and idle.

 

any turbo xs bov is a piece of shit.


if you want a loud bov go with a turbo and run some decent boost. picking a bov based on sound alone is like picking a car based on what color it's painted.

I first order the Godzilla blow off valve, and I just returned it. First of all it

 

8lb pulley and no AC.

 

you've got bigger balls than me to be running that much boost with no intercooler. i hope you live in a cold environment. haha
