Default Suspension Tuning: Inside

What's up, fellas? Long time lurker here... my car got rear ended last week (nearly 8k in damage), and I have finally decided to confront my demon-- it's mod time. Foremost, I would like to thank all those who have contributed to my knowledge of improving already such a fine vehicle (the g35 coupe sits in the garage when i have the choice between the two). It's nice to see a community that is so supportive of itself. Anyway, being the handling nazi I am, I concluded the best course of action to first take would be modifying the suspension. After extensive research I have decided on the following parts:
[I]Cusco Carbon Fiber Front STB
Cusco Carbon Fiber Rear STB
Cusco Front Sway Bar
Cusco Rear Sway Bar

I think for that kind of money or maybe just a little more, you could get your self a good suspension system. I may get flamed for this, but I am of the school of thought that sway bars are band aid solutions, and that a set of well matched shocks/springs don't require extra springs between them.

Basically we have an independent suspension, so lets just leave every corner independent.

STBs look cool, but unless they are welded to the towers, give a little too much to be useful. A rear STB in this car is just pretty...the whole rear shelf acts like one! FYI, I have Cusco front STB, but I got it because I just like how it looks. Its also not carbon Fiber, its aluminum with a carbon fiber cover.

Rotors.....pretty, but don't improve your handling (maybe they save some unsprung weight??).

So I think you can see what I personally suggest? 1 to 1.5k can get you a decent suspension system.

Thanks for the advice so far guys! So, it appears I should head in the Coilover direction. So, revised, I'm guessing coilovers and an x-brace?

That sounds like a better thing to spend your money on if you have to spend it on the car. Make sure to check this thread out:

The suggestion of spending the money on track days also gets my vote.

Good luck,
Bassem

And be carefull with cheap coilovers;most of the time, they are worse than a good quality springs/shocks combo. (for about the same price)
