Default Swapping ECUs, what do I need?

I have a MY05 S2K. I'm thinking of trading out my AEM EMS for a stock MY05 ECU. I don't have my original ECU anymore, so this will be from a different car.

Is this just as simple as plug and play, or does something else need to be done?

You will need the VIN of the ECU. Then swap the ECU in a Honda Dealers lot. The dealer can then program your keys into the car. Be sure to have ALL of your keys to the car with you.

Okay, and as a follow up to the above, once I get the new 05 ECU and get my key programmed to match, will I then be able to switch back and forth between the 05 ECU and my AEM EMS if need be without dealing with reprogramming each time? Basically, once the ECU is mated to my key, will it stay that way whether I remove it or not?

Yes.

once the key is programed into the ECU, it will be there. You should have all of your keys with you when they program the ECU. It is an all at once operation.

That's all good, thanks for the offer... but I only have one key for my S2K. Even though it isn't a daily driver, I wouldn't have wanted to send the only key I have cross-country and back.

I'm lucky to live in an area that has 4 Honda dealerships withing 25miles of my house. I got a quotes from $100 to $120, but one dealership is offering to do it for $60, so I'm going with them.

And yes, I got the ECU in yesterday, thanks. I'm going to have it programmed on Saturday, so hopefully all goes well. I'll let you know and leave you some feedback in your vouch thread once it all gets done.

If you could have somehow cut a key and programmed it to match the ECU you sent me for $50, I would have DEFINITELY taken you up on that, because it would have been a plug and play kind of thing. But don't you need more than a VIN# to cut a key to match my ignition? I could easily send you the VIN and paypal you $50 if you can send me a key that matches and will work in my ignition. Something tells me there's more to it than that though.
