Default Taking head off

So I will soon be embarking on the magical journey of taking the cylinder head of the S to repair what I have come to conclude is a bent valve (or two, or three). I do not have the money to get all the parts and such yet, but how bad would it be to have a the car in the garage with a torn down motor for a while? Id like to get started but would be worried about opening up the engine and exposing it to dust and dirt while I wait for parts and later shipping out the head and such. Thanks guys,

Matt

Don't let your nephews play cowboys and indians in there, man! They can screw things up. Other than that, i.e. debris in the engine, you'll be ok.

Yeah, just cover things up to prevent something from falling into a cylinder or water passage. I suspect some plastic sheeting and duct tape would ensure that nothing gets into someplace it shouldn't be.

Why not just leave it assembled till you get the money and parts?

some people dont have all sorts of time to do it all at once. im in the army and whenever i do a motor swap it takes me about at week. not because i dont know what im doing as ive done super turbo charged detroit diesels in a day or two. but because i dont have but 2 hours a day after work before i have to call it a night. so in turn it takes longer to get it done than it takes to get new parts shipped. so to get more to the point maybe he hasnt much time in his schedule to get it done when he gets the money and it would be more benficial to him to get a little done at a time.

^ I'm the same exact way, until I'm out of work. Then I make my way to the garage by oh about 1pm.
