It should be pretty simple. I installed my Ballade TCT a few years ago, and I'd expect it to be removed the same way as an OEM TCT. Just unbolt the two bolts, and wiggle it out.

Why are you replacing it? I've had no problems with my Ballade TCT.

Probably because many on the forum and fakebook have had issues.

I’ve heard that the Billman TCT is the way to go with a lifetime warranty/guarantee from a knowledgeable innovator, can’t go wrong.

Once again the Service Manual has the procedure. See Page 6-30 & 6-31. Not quite as easy as just pulling the two bolts.

Ballade TCT is reputed to over-tighten the timing chain eventually causing engine damage.

Also note the Billman TCT comes with new bolts which must be used.

10 minute job once the tools and a paper towel are in hand.

Thanx Chuck!
I really appreciate it, i have the service manual, just didn’t think it would the same procedure for the aftermarket Ballade TCT. Learn so much from you guys. I’m planning to replace the VTEC too, just to refresh it and preventive. Anything I should know wit that process?
S2k is a 2005 with 88k on the clock. I’ve done the valve adjustment brand new plugs and coil packs 1K miles ago. I just refreshed the clutch system and elected to go with the AP1 flywheel. The rear end is next. Just waiting for puddymod to get to me, long waiting list.

again, Thanx!!

The Service Manual procedure keeps the TCT from falling apart when you remove it. No issues with my OEM TCT but I replaced it with Billman's as preventive maintenance when the car had just under 40K miles 10 years ago. I have a set of "O" rings for the VTEC unit just in case but don't recall any routine checks or maintenance needed there. Also not seen any need or advantage in a different differential gear ratio. These 20+ year old cars never performed like in the Fast n' Furious movies anyway! (Unless supercharged.)

so, being a Ballade TCT the procedure is the same right? As for the rear end i was thinking of a 4.4 or to leave ot stock ratio and just get the sleeve beefed up. Just to be preventive.
im just making the S2k stronger, no plans of boosting it. My racing days are thing of the past maybe some spirited driving every so often and teasing some road racing kids out there.

Leave the dif alone, just operate the car as intended. Race all you want.

Don’t launch.

It will be a long time until it needs a dif.

the reason im considering the diff refresh is i hear a knock getting on first gear, just normal driving out of my driveway. I waa thinking the backlash is off already. How can I diagnose that knock? Could it be bushings?

thanx
