how difficult would this be? has anyone done this already?

I wanted to do it because i love the way a car feels without power steering... especially on the highway... but wasn't sure if there were any downsides electronically... i've had it done to an integra before with no problems, but not sure if the s2k would be any different...

any help would be appreciated...

Just pull the fuse or one of the EPS connectors on the rack. It is not very comfortable around town but a great way to build upper body strength. I do not recommend it.

I really like the feel of no p/s. I have also done this on the integra.

I imagine you can remove the belt, but as far as removing the whole system, I have no clue how it can be done safely.

There is no belt for power steering on the S2000. If you want to do it right, you will have to change the rack. A disabled steering assist system is much more difficult to turn than a non assisted system.

I think you would have to find a steering rack from another car that doesn't have power steering that was similar to the S2000. I think it would be hard to find. I guess you used a non-assisted steering rack from a Honda Civic for your Integra since they both have the same chassis?

There have been rumours of a mod to reduce the amount of power steering assistance. Never found anyone who claimed to have the mod, so it could just be hot air. But the idea might have merit - while I don't doubt the S is heavy enough to warrant power steering, it would be interesting to see if a little less asistance gave a little more feedback.

To reduce the amount of assist, it seems like you would just need to put a voltage regulator on the EPS power (i.e. 8 V instead of 14 V).
