Default TCT change

Ok so here's the deal. I got a valve adjustment done last week and the car still ticks kinda loud. Figured this is due to the TCT wearing out. (the car has 81000 on it and the records i got never indicated a TCT change) I called the dealer and the service guy told me that in addition to the "CAM" tensioner i also needed to replace the "arm" and the "guide" associated with the tensioner.

OK, so i thought the CAM tensioer the guy assured me thats what i wanted was called the TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER, not the cam tensioner. Also, i gave searched a lot of posts about this and have never heard mention of the ARM and the GUIDE this guy is talking about.

Need your guys help on this one. Should i just get the part and take it to a mechanic or do i need all this extra crap??? Thx

They are pricing you chain guides, which require removing the timing chain case to access.

Get just the tensioner.

I am in riverside, ca. I was told last night that its a super easy fix and it takes like 10 minutes with no special tools. Im inclined to just get the stupid thing and do it myself as long as there is no potential of the thing exploding and shooting any parts into the engine. Then i'd be kinda screwed.

It is a pretty simple install. The linked thread posted above has really good pictures and instructions on changing it out. I would just buy one and do it myself.

super easy to do you need a 10mm socket, and a 8mm allen key (might be 6) that is all takes maybe 15 mins. if you get a new one from hondaautomotiveparts.com it comes already set it. you just install the tensor and put it in, pull the pin and all set.
