Default TCT and engine light

I just had my TCT changed by my mechanic today. (part was ordered from hardtopguy excellent price btw) I was going to do it myself, but I just put all the cash I had into the car and can't afford to "f" it up. Everything was kosher and I drove it home and around for a bout a half hour and when I left for work this evening my check engine light was on. Now the car turned on fine, sounds what I'd assume to be normal (since my old normal was with a bad TCT). I did notice that the engine light was on even when the key was turned and the engine wasn't started yet.. Is this common after a TCT install? Could this be a sensor spazing out or the ecu acting up? I'm obviously going to bring this back tomorrow but has anyone had the same problem?

not a common problem as far as i know, just did a tct replacement and a oil change. tct came first no cel. chech out who did this for you . tct is oil pressure sensitive btw, dont go to a stearlership, and whatever has been done, if its been done correctly you just might have to reset your ecu. i hope, good luck

Did your mechanic unplug the VTEC solenoid for easier access to the bolts?

Yeah so I got the car back and everything was fine. Now the sound is back. It's pretty mild but definitely noticeable. Is there an adjustment that could be made, possible installation error, god forbid something worse? The car is an 02 with 30k. This really shouldn't be happening.

Would oil have to do with this? My mechanic was saying something the tensioner worked off oil pressure or something. I don't know much about this stuff but I am using Mobile 1 synthetic.

Low oil will cause TCT noise due to low pressure. Check oil level.
