Just did mine today and I was quite surprised with the positive results. Is it possible that it's all in my head? I really don't think so:

1) Car is idling way more evenly - previously was similar to always having trouble adjusting to a new temperature, though the outside temp hadn't really changed, including near stalls (and one time it actually stalled).

2) What I had thought was valve noise is now gone - we had another S to compare it to, and mine is waaaay quieter than his now. His also has half the mileage and a fairly recent valve adjustment.

When I removed the old tensioner I expected it to fly in to pieces, but it came out in one piece and was quite rigid. I actually had a good amount of trouble moving the piston by hand outside of the car until I yanked and it flew apart. Was this the case for anyone else?

Nevertheless it was an easy install and anyone can handle it.

Does the TCT normally come out in once piece? Lets say worse case scenario it comes appart inside the engine. Whats the next step?

^^ Congrats on reviving a super old thread

Sounds like coincidence. Do a quick search on the forums. There are tons of threads regarding the TCT. You should be able to find all the info you need.
