Default Tein RS Suspension Issues...

i installed a set of tein rs coilovers in the s and it sounds like my car is gonna crack in half. the handles are great but no matter what size bump i hit in the road, it sounds like the shock is gonna come right through the car. the front is okay but the back is terribly noisy. it sounds like metal to metal contact. has anyone run into this kind of problem and does anyone know a solution? any suggestions will be appreciated.

I have them and they're fine. Are you sure you got all the nuts torqued?

i'm going back to have the height readjusted after everything settles and i'm gonna have him double check everything. i know it's weird cause i've been in a couple of s2k's with the same set up and it didn't sound like this

Here's the issue I had with my TL. Sounds like you might be in the same boat.

"I finally got around to disassembling the rear suspension and it turns out the collar that goes in the pillowball mount, PMP05-F1423, is too large due to POOR MANUFACTURING TOLERANCES! Because the opening is too large for the shock shaft, there is side to side play. To eliminate the problem, I had to remove the pillowball mount and wrap the shock shaft (where the collar is seated) with electrical tape.

This is the culprit:

"

Many people (non s2k) have had issues with Teins. They have got a bunch of little kids putting these things together.

Good luck and keep us posted.

wow. thanks for the info. tein has such a good reputation. i really didn't expect this to happen. i was looking forward to having a lowered ride and improved handling but it just killed me inside when i felt how nasty the ride was. just out of curiosity, what damper settings are people running for street? i currently have 12/20 in the rear and 5/20 up front. i've adjusted the rear and the sound still presists. maybe a better combination will help!?!

If you have the same problem that I described, no dampener setting will save you.

The rattle at low speeds over tiny bumps/imperfections in the road will drive you insane!
