the term "throwing a rod"
when someone talks about throwing a rod, are they referring to connecting rods or pushrods? i always thought it was referring to a pushrod however another thread i posted in has me wondering if i've been wrong.

"throwing a rod" is usually reffered to breaking a connecting rod.
causes?..... hydrolock(more like bending a rod), predetonation, tooooooooo much power(couple hundred above stock), poor/no engine maintenence. excesively worn bores. damaged connecting rod prior to engine assembly......... list goes on and on
