Is There a Way to Extend the Steering Column?
Hi all,
Is there a way to extend the existing steering column about an inch or so and still keep the factory steering wheel/air bag? Can I do this by using spacers or an extension?
Currently, theirs is no room for my hand to go around between my leg and the steering wheel. I think I can solve this problem by moving the steering wheel a little closer to me or buying a smaller diameter wheel.
I am planning to buy a hub and an after market wheel but I thought I

Extending the steering column is possible if you have the will and the money. It won't be a simple procedure but I suppose it's possible to remove the column assembly, cut the protruding shaft that the wheel attaches to and add a spacer. Everything below that is a unit and can't be messed with. I'm sure there are other ways but none will be cheap and easy.
Whether this would be safe or advisable is a whole other story. You might be better off getting a smaller steering wheel.

I had a similar problem and by lowering the seat bottom, the car became a bunch more drivable. I had room over my thighs and could see the tach clearly, etc... It's fairly easy to accomplish and it comes out great. See: http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...&threadid=50658
