Default Is there a way to pull a CEL?

In my Integra you could jumper a connector and get the codes. I've found how to do it for the ABS in the S but not the CEL? Please dont say take it to autozone like all the posts i've found in the search and FAQ they dont do it in Cali. MY2006

Go to Pep Boys, AutoZone, or similar auto parts retailer and they will pull the code for you for free, although I understand that some states in their wisdom do not allow this.

Ure integra was OBD1 I am assuming and that how you pull codes on an ODB1 system by jumping 2 wires in the diagnostic box in the engine bay. For ODB2 (1996 and newer) you need a code reader to be plugged into the diagnostic plug inside the passenger compartment of the car.

The teg was a 98 obd2 guess I'll have to get a code pulled next time they are on sale. I fixed my problem so there is no hurry. It came on the second I pulled outta the car wash parking lot. So I just disconnected the battery to reset the ecu. The light still hasnt come back on. Thanks for answering my question.

last two times autoparts store lend their coder reader instead of them do it. Im guessing it has something to do with the law?...

another option would be buying a simple reader for about 45 dollars.
