Thinking about rebuilding my motor
My compression checked out to 195 - 200 across the board. I'm at 110,xxx miles and I believe it's time for a rebuild. However, I would like to go with a higher compression piston. Obviously, I would have to get an EMS. If I were to just rebuild the motor with higher compression pistons, what price am I looking at? I've never rebuilt an S2000 motor, I'm used to b-series. Also, if there are any recommendations on what I should focus on while rebuilding the motor, please share.
Thanks in advance!

What makes you think you need a rebuild? 195-200 across the board should be fine, depending on a bunch of factors, but within 5psi is extremely encouraging. I'd definitely dyno it, preferably with a few other similar S2k's, before going to the trouble/expense of a rebuild you probably don't need.
Personally, if my '01 were in need of a rebuild, I'd either rebuild it with a 2.2 crank and rods, or just throw a good used 2.2 in there.

I think it really depends on your goals. If the engine is working and power is still healthy why mess with it?
However, if you already have your heart set on a build for higher compression etc etc, then it's better to start with an engine that's not broken.

I feel exactly the opposite. If the engine is healthy and all you're planning on is bumping compression, I wouldn't bother. If it's due for a rebuild, then go ahead and mod things in the process.
If the engine is literally "broken" (i.e., cracked block), then of course you wouldn't rebuild it! But the idea that a worn engine due for a rebuild is "broken" and not a good place to start is kind of a funny notion, IMO...
I dyno'd it back in October. The vehicle only put out 187 whp and 135 tq. I have Berk headers, Megan Exhaust and AEM v2 intake. I feel that's a tad bit low
I'm just going to start setting money aside for this rebuild of mine. If I wanted an OEM rebuild, any ideas as to what that might run me? I eventually want to go ITB's.

^ Oh god, that's ridiculously expensive. I'm going to go high compression pistons with springs, valves and retainers tuned on an AEM EMS and I don't plan on spending more than $3,500. I'm located in Tampa, Florida. Thanks for the input though!

Anyway, I think I'd just look for a good used 2.2 from a low-miles wreck (preferably rear-end first into a tree/guardrail/ditch/whatever).
