I did the Robbins top conversion to glass on my 01 this past weekend. Was a bitch of a job...10-12hrs. And I agree with OtherHalf...if I were to do it again I wouldn't stip out the interior other than the seats. Easily 2 extra hrs of work to disassemble the interior and reinstall for not much extra help reaching behind the seats.

Here is the write up from Cylon:

You might contact him to see what he would charge for a top+install if he is still a vendor. Looks like he lives 3-4hrs from you. Would be worth the drive to get an expert install.

I see now what bar you are talking about, the immovable bar. That was a good catch bro

I got a chance to compare the two tops today. I took a couple measurements, I come up with 1.5 inches in difference. This explains why the pull cloth is so tight when lowering the top.

For the record, I will never do this OEM conversion again. It's a hack job in my book no matter how you cut it. The elastic bands just can't stand up to the task of pulling bar C foward like the OEM springs.

Maybe the Robbins top has specifically built their top to fit the early frame better.

Ugh, now you guys are scaring me about the window conversion for a 2001. Negcamber, does the Robbins auto top take care of alot of the problems being discussed?

I won't be doing the install myself, but going to a local convertible shop for the install. I do have concerns that they don't work on S2000's very often.

No no, they aren't scaring you now, they are scaring you back in April of 2007.

There are plenty of other threads referencing the Robbins top and the overall feedback has been strong. A qualified shop should be able to install it for you without difficulty, whether they frequently work on S2000s or not.

Thank you for your input. You are right - I've read a ton of threads recommending Robbins but trying to find more people that are currently using them.

seems like in this case if you wanted OEM, you could just buy the '02-'03 top from honda for the AP1 frame

Thanks for the link to your post - very excellent work on your part. Sounds like you don't have any complaints either.

I will have some vacation time soon and plan to go buy the robbins top locally and have the installer put it in. I'm quite excited about dumping this ripped plastic window that has been fogged since I got my s2k.

Thanks guys!!

Finally doing my 02 roof on and 00 frame conversion. This thing about the B bar has me a little concerned. What needs to be done to allow for this?

I have the frame modified and the canvas sitting on the frame with all the fabric fitted in the rails and the B and C bar in the rear sleeve. Roof is at half mast at present.
