Default Thoughts on an ECU MAP library???

Hey guys,

Not sure what everyone thinks about this!?!?!?, I know alot of the guys have invested alot of time & money in getting their setup tuned to near perfection.

Everyone shares knowlage of everything else except this I'm getting an AEM EMS after christmas and I for one would find a decent FI base map to start with very useful & wouldn't have any problems posting my MAP's to help other people in the future.

Let me know what you lot think? is it a good idea?

Regards

Andy

I think it's a fine idea to share AEM EMS maps. Like others, I've invested many hours in working my maps, starting with the AEM base map, and expect to invest many more. But sharing the maps doesn't cost me anything and if I see something useful in someone else's maps, I may save time and aggravation. So let's do it.

Now a dumb question -- how?

I would attach my current map to this post, but I don't have a website and don't see another mechanism. Suggestions?

Mechanism? Surely email with attachment(s).

But speaking for JohnsS2K and me it helps if you know what you're doing. John didn't realise the difference in the Mugen ECU and stock ECU.

It has to be Caveat Emptor. "No result no fee" isn't a reasonable condition in this situation. Be interesting to know what the site regs. are on this issue. Can't say I have bothered to look (yet) as this seems such a trusting and trustable community of guys - so far

Email is a pain because you have to send each time somebody requests it.

A file posted on a web site and link published here is a much better.

""No result no fee" isn't a reasonable condition in this situation."

I TOTALLY disagree. I'm willing to make my logs and maps available, but YOU USE THEM AT YOUR DISCRETION. My setup is NOT your setup so my maps may NOT be directly good for you. (Hey, at this point, my maps aren't even directly good for me!) For example, my header has two 90 degree bends right after the 4:2 point in order to clear my firewall/footwell. Yours probably doesn't. Even worse, at this point I'm running a restrictive SuperTrapp muffler so my fuel maps, that now yield a 13:1 AFR at WOT at all speeds on my maps, will give 15:1 or worse with a decent muffler (I'll be changing soon.).

The ONLY reason for swapping maps and logs is to get ideas from others -- not solutions from others.

Caveat emptor; buyer beware; YMMV.

I'm glad others agree this is/could be a good idea, now I'm not a technological genius by any stretch so wouldn't have the first clue how to post any maps we need to find the best way possible so this can happen.

Like Hans said, the idea for this was to get other MAP's from other users but only to use as a base MAP as it would be near impossible to use someone elses MAP & have it work perfectly for your application!!!.

I see this as an oppertunity for people to save time, tears and money along the way, now I know alot more people on this board have aftermarket programmable ECU's so come on guy's say what you think!

Best regards

Andy

I'll be posting my Greddy E-manage maps and settings as soon as I get my car back from the tuner.

The car is Comptech Supercharged (no Aftercooler) with 440cc injectors. I have the Ignition and Injector harnesses and I'm using the E-manage for Boost Cut.

These maps really won't do anything for anybody else, even with exactly the same set up except be a reference for the sort of options used and points along the map (such as where I've added injector cycle or reduced MAP signal). You would still definitely want to have it tuned on a dyno by a competent technician.

I will also set up a library where you can upload your files with a description of your set up and options through a web interface. I'll let you know when it is up.
