Default Tick! Tick!Tick!

Is what my valves sound like. At 21,000 miles. Do you guys think it just need a valve adjustment? Or am I into something worse.

S2000 and most Hondas have a pretty noisy valve train... If the car runs ok, and no CEL, probably nothing. A valve adjustment is pretty cheap, so if makes you feel better have it done.

Push the clutch in..............does the Tick Tick Tick go away? If so then it's your clutch. If not then it's probably valves. My 0.02.

Noisy valves should be loudest when the engine is cold, but shouldn't be any louder when the engine is reved up (just faster). Try listening to it outside the car with the hood up to see where the sound is originating.

The only way to really KNOW if you need a valve adjustment is to check the clearances with a feeler guage . And since you're in there checking, you might as well adjust them. It gives me piece of mind to check them every once in a while anyway, even if they don't wind up needing adjustment.

i'd say at that mileage its possible, especially if they've never been adjusted. I adjusted mine two weeks ago and they are very quiet now. The quietest I've ever heard a Honda valvetrain sound in fact.
