Default Ticking noise normal?

Hey guys I started to notice a ticking noise at idle coming from the engine its not very loud I cant hear it when the top/windows are up but I can hear it when the windows are down and the radio is off. Am I just paranoid or is this normal?

If it is a new noise I would say something is going on. If so I would say it could be the timing chain tensioner starting to go.

If it is just a faint high pitched tapping...it's probably just normal valve chatter. As a precaution, check your oil level.

And you might try having the valves adjusted.

If you can post a vid of what you are hearing, we might be able to tell more.

Excellent advice above - when the oil level drops (sometimes even as little as 1/2 a quart low) you will start to be able to hear the valves working. Check your oil, I bet it's low.

I've also realized this ticking sound on my car, however, it doesn't tick when i first start the car. It usually waits till after a bit of driving before the ticking starts and i can only hear it from the inside of the car. I've popped the hood and can't hear the same ticking.

I put 5 quarts of amsoil. I know we should do 5.1Q but would that .1 really make that ticking sound?

Also, the ticking noise starting after one night were I accidentally over-revved 3rd gear. Could that have caused it??

Did you overrev it into "redline" by simply not shifting right away or did you mechanically over-revv it (being in 3rd at high RPM and shift to 2nd instead of 4th).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H4EPpsKfOw my ticking sounds like this. Its not very loud and can only be heard if you listen real closely so im gonna assume its valvetrain noise. I check the oil everytime i start up the car and the oil level is fine.
