Default Ticking noise while warming up...

the ticking only happens when the rpms are high during a cold start. it sounds like its just a noisy timing chain? do you guys agree? does your car make a ticking noise when warming up after a cold start?

i doubt i need a valve adjustment, the car only has 630 miles on it...im just curious about where the noise is coming from.

How high rpms are we talking about here? During warm up, you should let the car just idle where it likes with your foot off the gas pedal (until you are ready to drive off).
I'm inclined to think that perhaps the oil has not reached all the vital parts well enough for you to rev it too high. A bit of valve train ticking is not unusual, however, after the engine has gotten through its breakin period, if the ticking gets any louder, your valves might need to be looked at.

sorry i wasn't clear. im talking about how the FIV raises the rpm higher so the car can warm up faster during a cold start. the rpms usually start at 2k rpm(and slowly drops down as the water temp increases) and this is the time where you can hear the ticking noise. when the rpm is at normal idle(car is fully warmed up,~800 +/- 50 rpm) the noise is gone.

Gotcha! I wouldn't be too concerned at this time. When you begin to drive, does the ticking come back once the engine speeds up a bit?
Just a bit of valve train noise on a new engine.

My car has done this since the day I bought it. I adjusted the valves, and the noise still continues. My car does the same exact thing, ticking during initial warm up, rate of ticking changes with engine speed, and when the engine is warm, ticking is gone. Weird.

I also have the same thing happen with my car. Not a loud ticking or anything, just there where you can hear it if you listen for it.
