Default Time for a new Clutch

I just found out my throw out bearing is gone =(

I need to have the whole clutch replaced. I have a stock 06. No mods on it. What would be my best choice? I like the feel of the stock pedal.

Everybody will say different things. I have been extremely pleased so far with my ap1 flywheel, and competition stage two clutch. The pedal is lighter and more crisp than stock, clutch grabs smoothly and easily, and with the lighter flywheel, the car stays much happier in mid rpms.

A lot of people say stick with stock. I would have as well had it not been for cost. I had a friend get me the comp kit for about 300 (pressure plate, friction disc, release bearing) the shift fork and throwout bearing I replaced were oem honda.

Edit* I also have a 2006. The ap1 flywheel is a direct swap and very popular to replace from our ap2 flywheel. The ap2 is about 20-24lbs depending on who you ask. The ap1 is supposed to be 14.

I was thinking about the Comp Kit myself. You mind sending me a PM and letting me know how much everything cost you?

i would def stick with stock. hondaautomotiveparts.com sells them for cheap. while the clutch is out there are some other things you should consider replacing while its out. and please refer to the DIY page even if you have a dealer installing the clutch. make sure it is greased in the proper locations. i would most likely have the rear main seal looked at and replaced. also check the throw out bearing guide, a few members have experienced sticky/rough clutch pedal feels due to the insufficient greasing that is required and will cause heavy wear and tear on this part. read the FAQ and DIY page on clutch sticky problems. it should give you an insight on what other things should be/could be addressed. since you said your throw out bearing is going out might also want to check your pressure plate.

My opinion is OEM clutch with AP1 flywheel.

This is what I came up with after 45 minutes of research and finding posts by Billman.

Ap1 Flywheel.
OEM disc from Honda
ACT H021 Pressure Plate
OEM Bearings.

Now if someone is willing to point me in the right direction as to where I can buy these parts?

Thanks.

how many miles have you been on that comp stage 2 with ap1 flywheel? i'm going to be rolling with this setup. i can't justify spending $400 on just a act pressure plate.

I run essentially this but have a ACT pro light FW.

I bought the FW and PP used and had the FW resurfaced. You should be able to find an AP1 fw for under $100 and just have it resurfaced for about $50. For the bearings check out majestic Honda online and see if your local Honda will price match. if not just order from them. what ever way you go make sure you at the very least use oem bearings. The others have a tendance to fail prematurely.

If your TO bearing was toast make sure you get the guide piece for it as well. I think they run about $30-40.

I've had mine on for 500 miles... hardly broken in, I have a friend whose been running the same setup for over 10k . There's a little bit of clutch buzz between 2k and 4k but it doesn't bother me at all. Other than that the install is flawless and it seems to be a super sturdy kit. I daily my s2 also, and the other car is a tracked daily so the clutch has seen pretty decent abuse and still holds up.
